My everyday route

Just thought of sharing this, as some of you have been asking me how do I usually go to work. I took this pics on the way back from office to home.... yesterday....
So, on the left as you can see is the overhead bridge that I have to use everyday, and I took this pic on AMD side of the bridge.

I took this pic just before going up the steps of the bridge. As you can see, it's rather a big building, and our main office is placed on the 6th floor. On the 7th floor, it has a 300-400 seater auditorium, a cafeteria, a gym (where I usually do my runs) and there is a tennis court above the auditorium. But never seen anyone playing so far. I guess the balls keep on dropping off the building most of the time. Hahaha. The gym is rather impressive. 9/10 times I go there, I'll be the only lady around. It houses an aerobic/floor exercise room, 6 threadmills (my fav), 2 bicycles, and 4 other machines. And also those guy machines where you train your biceps/triceps/forceps :P. Also, they recently bought over another building, it's partially hidden, behind this main building. Another 7-storey building, mainly for lean lines. But at the moment, it's not running full capacity. What a waste of $$!!

This was taken the minute I came down from the bridge, on the other side. I'm standing on the jogging path (tarred road) and also cycling path. The other cement path is most of the time for walking, though some people do jog too. (But then again, the knee will koyak (torn) man).

This pic is taken further up when I started walking on the cycling path. It's quite big actually. By the way, that's the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) and most of the time, it's packed with cars around this time.

And so walking further, this is my path/route I take to and fro from work and home. Further down, you can see a playground. What I love about playgrounds here is that it is padded. There's like a padding on the ground, with patterns and bright colors. This is to be like an absorber just in case the kids fall down or something. It's pretty good for us joggers too. At least our knees are not running on hard ground. But usually this kind of padding is only for playgrounds.
This is taken right in front of my block. There's this cute little playground, and I like the landscape. Check out the lush green trees. Do you know that the trees planted at the back row are mostly fruit trees? Jackfruits and mango. All in all, it takes roughly 12 mins (my walking pace), and perhaps, Jason takes 15-20 minutes for his walking pace. :P Anyway, I shall miss walking to work because for my new job, I would have to start taking 2 buses. But thank God work there starts half an hour later, so I just need to wake up about 15 minutes earlier. :)

My Easter weekend

* Note: This is gonna be a long post with lots of pictures.. Bear with me :)*

It was a great weekend in Malacca, with the additional public holiday of Good Friday. We left for Spore at about 7pm (rushed for the bus like a mad person), as usual, there were traffic jams everywhere. Reached Malacca at about 11pm. :)

Next morning, went to the dentist for my checkup. After that, we both went our separate ways for lunch. Jason went lunch with his ex-dept from Qimonda, whereas, I went out with Joey & Hazel. (forgot to take pic with Joey. Hehehe)

Jason's lunch with ex-colleagues

He caught up with us at coffee bean (JJ)

1st pic taken with phone sec cam (front);
2nd pic taken with phone normal cam (back)

After that, we visited JaMi before they left for KL that evening, to play with the new addition to their family, Cophie. He's a mixed breed of maltese and poodle. He is only 2 months old. Super adorable. :)

That night, we had pot bless at Joseph's house with some of the church members. His is a bungalow, and he even has swings for his nephews and nieces when they come to visit him. As you can also see, he has a couple of dogs, a labrador retriever mixed breed, Smiley, and a retriever, Dodi. Very handsome and smart dogs. And of course, took some pics with my beloved nieces, Crystal & Celine. Hehehe.

The next day, I didn't bring my camera out so no pictures, but we managed to clean and mop the whole house that afternoon. It feels good. Hehehe. The two kids were over at my parents place, with their dad while waiting for their mum to finish her facial session nearby. Crystal will be seven this December, and Celine will be three this August. Some phrases and conversations with the little one.

(Mum gave 2 pieces of biscuits and put in a plate for Celine, then as they were starting to walk out of the kitchen...)
Mum: Celine, ask jie-jie (big sister in Mandarin) if she wants to eat some biscuits...
Celine: (without asking her sister), No, jie-jie don't want to eat.
All of us laughed, because she answered on behalf of her sister, and mainly, because she didn't want to share her biscuits. Hahahaha.

While watching a movie, they were bored, Crystal was coloring in her book and also scribbling...
Celine: Daddy, jie-jie conteng. (scribble in Malay)
We were all shocked because she knew how to use that word! Must be from her grandma.Haha.
Of course there were other phrases that she used which caught us by surprise and she was pretty friendly and chatty the whole weekend.

Took the pics below in church on Sunday, and during lunch. Happy with the stickers I gave them.

After church, we went to the optical shop to change Jason's specs frame. It broke. Then we visited the Teus. Have not seen them ever since their daughter was born.. like a year ago? Hehehe.

Lil' YingYing is sooo cute. I still can't make out whose face does she look like. I guess it's a mix.
When we were there, she was sleeping, and the first pic was when she just got up, playing with her "doggy". She could even nicely dance to the tune that the doggy played. Hehehe. We had to leave cause we had to pack to go back to Spore, and so I nicely said to her, "Come let's go" with my arms open wide. Surprisingly, she wanted me to carry her. Ha... And she can even wave goodbye to her parents with an additional flying kiss to each of them...

Then she saw my handbag, and wanted to carry it... So I let her. After that, her mum wanted to take the handbag away, and I also tried, she refused to let go of the bag, but instead, she can wave goodbye to both her parents with the bag on her arm. Hahaha. Her mum wanted to carry her, but she was clinging on to me. It was such a funny sight. In the end, we gave her a tupperware bottle to carry and I got back my bag. *phew*. She was kind of confused in the end because she thought she was supposed to follow me, but ended up in her mum's arms. Smart and cute girl.

Ahh.. kids....so cute and adorable to play with.. but you'll never know how they can be like when u have to take care of them... :P

So overall, I guess it was a good weekend. Managed to do a lot of things with the house and also catch up with friends...

I hope you had a good weekend too, did you? (yeah, I need to hit off to the gym after all the good food back in Melaka.. sigh)

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone...

Hahahaa.. In fact, it's not exactly gone.. It has been raining since beginning of the week... Nice weather to sleep in... and it's still raining. Hoping it goes off so that I can go for my jog......not! Hehehe.

On the other hand, yeah, things looks better for me now. My directions are clear, everything is clearer. No more confusing issues. Clear. Very clear. Am quite ready for the change. :) Woo hoo!

Chit Chat

Aha! How many of you didn't vote? Not doing your duty as a citizen eh? *wink wink* Hehehehe..

Anyway, overall, I am pleased with the results. Even though my parents were a bit worried if Melaka falls into the hands of the opposition maybe because they don't have the experience of running a state government. And so it didn't. :)

Nevertheless, we shall give them a chance for one term, especially for those states which are currently now under the opposition's rule. Like someone said ( I can't remember which blogger/ minister), [paraphrased], "Vote for those whom you think is capable. But if they don't perform, easy, just vote for the other person the next time round." Which is pretty fair, ya?

Changes, changes, changes, I guess we'll pretty much see more these in the near future. Change is good. It gives those around it some motivation to press harder, or else, like for this case, the govt tends to take the people for granted. Muahaha... and they become complacent.. and so on...

On another note, I might be going through some changes soon. Not sure exactly when, but then again, like the previous post, it's a mixed feeling. And to add on to that feeling, I do feel agitated because some people are just trying to make things hard for the change, just so, to protect their own interests. But then again... I don't easily give up :) Am just praying for a smooth change and for this issue, to past on quickly.

OkOkOk, enough of my ramblings... I had a great time back home in Malacca, time spent with family and also catching up with a friend over tea. And I had a great time with my nieces. Missed them.... greatly. *sob sob*

Jason went back to Segamat (both of us didn't change our addresses in our IC, hahaha), and he brought back another 18kgs of durians. Hee Hee Hee. The smell is just so pungent, that if you put it right at the back of the kitchen, you can smell it at the living room. Anyway, we're both now on a detox program. Too much of food already. Need to clean our bowels. :P Opps... here it's comes again...

Mixed feelings..

Having mixed feelings with the situation I'm going through now. But at the same time, I am glad, that this situation is finally coming to past. Will let you know what is it when the time is right.

And no, don't get me wrong, it has nothing to do about me getting pregnant. :P

**********
Woo hoo.. today is Friday, and I thank God for this wonderful day as I'm looking forward to go back to home sweet home. Have not been home since CNY. Missing my bed!

Have a wonderful weekend, ya all...and remember to VOTE if you're a registered voter! After that, remember to r-e-l-a-x!

Drinking...

Came across this last week while we went for a drink near Novena Square. It's written at the back of the menu. It's funny, but at the same time, I think it's nonsense. Haha. In my opinion, don't even start if you know you can't control yourself. :)

Money, money, money..

It's so funny...
In a rich man's world..
-Abba-

sigh.. everything has to do with this stupid dollar sign..can't deny the fact that we need money for everything. Sometimes I wish that we don't need to have this to survive. Perhaps we can do like what they did long time ago.. barter - trade. Hehehe...

But I guess, it's difficult. And most people asked why we're here (working in Spore) in the first place. We can't deny the fact that of course, the exchange rate is one of the main magnet for us to be here. But it is just so we can settle our debts back home as soon as possible. And in turn, hubs wants to go back home once the bills are settled. (not!)

But then again, if going back to where we came from, where the semicon industry is slowly diminishing... I'm not sure if I want to go back there and work as an engineer again.. He in turned, suggested farming.. Hahaha.. with flock of cattle and sheep to look after, perhaps, some kind of plantation thingy.. and growing our own crops at the back of our backyard. Imagine Mary had a little lamb, O McDonald had a farm e i e i o...etc..Sounds good to me, no worries, no stress..

I guess there might still be stress..but a different kind of stress.. Hehehe.. (e.g: like what if there's a plague, and my crops died..) I wouldn't have enough to eat, to sell, in turn to buy grains and so on.. sigh.. the list goes on and on.. and after a cycle, it will still come back to the dollar sign.. And yeah.. I can't imagine going into agriculture here in Malaysia, in Malacca? If you tell me places like in Australia or NZ, then.. it's a different story altogether.. But in Msia? Hard to imagine..

Look at the colors. My picture of a perfect farm!

Check out the barn! bee-you-ti-ful!

With this machines, I think milking a cow isn't gonna be a tough one. Even Paris Hilton could do it manually. :P

And so, there's no doubt about the importance of the dollar sign. And some even say, instead of "love makes the world go round", perhaps, in actual fact, "money makes the world go round".... does it? does it?

Chinese New Year

... Lion dance, fireworks/ crackers, yummy food, large gatherings, noisy, lots of laughter, oranges, cookies, ANG POWS (red packets filled with money in it)! ...

We can all relate those above with Chinese New Year (CNY). I used to look forward to CNY when I was younger, but now, not really anymore. I guess now, things have changed, I have to go back to my in-laws place during the 1st & 2nd day.

I miss the noise that we used to have at my paternal grandma's place, where my aunts/uncles and their laughter could shake the whole house (okokok, am exaggerating :P ). And not forgetting the yummy food that grandma cooks that makes u salivate even when you think about it. And when we were young, how we used to be able to roam around at grandma's old big house slightly on the hill, which overlooks the paddy field. How we used to be able to catch guppies from the stream that goes across the paddy field and get our feet filled with mud and how our parents would nag at us. How we used to take the chicken's eggs from the barn and put the pingpong ball to replace it so that the hen will continue to lay eggs. How we enjoyed playing fireworks with my cousins and my uncle who will be the ring leader. And how we dread following grandma doing visitation as we grew older (because it means, lesser angpows for us), and because the weather was just so... unbecoming. I miss all that.

Now, I'll be spending my second CNY at my in-law's place. Nothing hoo-haa there. We just have dinner with his paternal grandma, and that's it. Not much noise, not many people, quite a quiet affair. Am still getting used to it. This year, we'll be taking the train straight to Segamat. And, I'm wondering what I'm going to do for the whole day of new year's eve. Of course, I'll be offering my help to my MIL to help in cooking, but usually, she turns down. I think it's normal for them. Even my grandma doesn't need anyone's help when she's in the kitchen. Perhaps I shall bring my cross-stitch work, or do my cards... hmmm... or learn some cooking which would be to Jason's liking. And yeah, not mentioning the change of food for me too. No more sate ayam for me, curry chicken, pongteh, sambal, etc... They're all kinda bland, sad to say. Typical Chinese food.

Anyway, I'm not complaining, a daughter-in-law got to do what she's got to do :). At least, I get to look forward to going back to Melaka on 2nd day of CNY to catch up with my aunts/uncles/cousins/schoolmates/friends who are from overseas/out-station :)... So, here's a toast to a good new year! *cheers*

(Note: As a Christian, I do not participate in prayers/joss-sticks/rituals, but just more so on the general customs of CNY).

What to do?

To stay?
To wait?
To move on?

Pray, pray, pray.

God, give me directions...pllllleeeeeeaaaaaassssssseeeeee... :(
Amen.

Psalms 25:4 - Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths.

Yummy-licious D24

Didn't take it properly coz the other hand was holding durians. :P

We had dinner together with L and L at the Bedok Interchange. After a hearty meal, we went to get durians. So we walked over to NTUC, and before we even reached the place, at the bend, we could s-m-e-l-l it. Hmm... Nice smell. I usually don't crave for durians. If it's there, I eat it, if not, it's ok. But it was difficult to resist yesterday's durians and suddenly, had some craving for it. Hehehe...

We got the good grade one. L was good at bargaining. Initially it was $15 per packet. The guy wanted to give $20 for 2 packets. In the end we got $20 for 3 packets. Muahaha.. Good eh? Don't play-play. We took it to the food court and "whacked" all three packets. Clean. Finger-licking-good. I took 3 pcs. It's so meaty and fleshy. And the seed I got is super small and thin but lots of meat. Full. Couldn't really walk after that. Satisfied. *burp* *ewww.. stinks* Durians, anyone?

Ipanema or Birkenstock

I bought a pair of this in August'07 :

But then, just last week, it was on the verge of breaking. (not the straps, but the soles). My heart almost broke too. I liked the pair a-lot. That explains why I wear them practically everywhere I go. :) And being in Singapore, I walk a lot... the pair is very comfy. Sigh. I guessed I walked too much. I sent them to my dad for "repair" if it can be done. He said that might just have to put another layer of soles underneath it. It'll be ugly, but then, it'll be wasted cause the other parts are still good. One thing, the color doesn't fade. Cool, huh? I got this pair for about RM60. (It's selling about S$33.90 here).

Now, I'm torn apart. Should I get another ipanema (without back-strap - cheaper , about S$17.90 or RM39?) .. and test it again? Jason said if it breaks again, then we're not going to get any of these anymore. Something like the pic below:

Or, after talking to Jason's friend the other day, she said, why not get a Birkenstock? Hmmm.. I had a few imitation Birkenstock too (bought it from Jonker Walk, which costs an average about RM25 per pair), and they pretty last me rather long, more than half a year? Hahaha. But she told me hers lasted for about 2 years already, and she went back-packing to Spain & Italy with it. I was like.. Wow. Tough pair. She has something like this:

I checked hers out online, it's about S$113.08. *jaw dropped*. Haha.. Buying online is cheaper, or so, she said. If I can get friends who wants to share in buying, then it'll be better, because for purchases above S$199, free shipping costs. Else, will have to pay additional S$29.90. I kinda like these... But it's about S$84.30. Sheesh... But if it can last for 5 years, why not?

I guess I might just settle for the ipanema ones first... *wink*

Some ramblings...

Not a good day today... Was rather excited.. then I got confused... Then I was in a dilemma...Then, I had to let go... or rather my lack of it, was forced to let go...

Hoping & praying He will open other doors for me. :(

Oh well.. life goes on...

My 2007 Christmas

****************************************************************
Found out that my mum reads my blog. Oh-no! But being an English-option teacher, she said it's good. It improves my vocab and bla bla bla... Hehehe.. Hmm... not sure if I should /censor/ my posts from now on or not. Hehehe... And am afraid to make any grammar mistakes.. Hahaha.. Just kidding...
*******************************************************
*********

Christmas was different for me this year. It was spent away from home. Of course, I do miss those times we had back home.

On Saturday, 22nd Dec, we went for the Christmas event at church, The Father's Love. It was a great one, I loved the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s love songs melody they sang. And the singers were great.
Right after that, we had to rush from Adam's Road to Pasir Ris to make it to my big boss' house for BBQ dinner. It's a farewell for him actually since he'll be posted to Suzhou next year. Also, it coincided with Christmas, so I bought a bottle of French red wine as a gift for him, and a box of Swiss chocs for my immediate mgr's children. Jason loved the seafood spread that he had. The prawns were really fresh, and yes, cray-fish! I didn't take it as I really didn't like seafood, but Jason said it was good. Even the lamb and beef it was soft, tender, juicy. Haha.

The next day, Sunday, my family (parents & bro) came down. Waited for them for about 3 hours at the bus station as there was a massive queue at customs. Brought them to my granduncle's place where they will be putting up 2 nights there, and headed to Orchard Rd for dinner with their family. At Crystal Jade restaurant (again!) at Taka. Stomachs filled, we walked around before returning home. The crowd was just getting from bad to worse. People-jam. Haha.

Wisma Atria - with granduncle, grandaunt & aunts

At Taka with family

Monday, we went to Queensway to get my bro's shoes. Yeah, so I got him a pair of Nike as his Christmas prezzie. My parents bought him a FILA jacket and Levi's for prezzie too. He was beaming from his left ear to his right whole day! Next, we went back for lunch, grandaunt cooked buah keluak, a typical nyonya dish, originated from Indonesia. Yummy! And she made kueh pai-tee (top-hats). After that, my aunt dropped us at Orchard Rd as my mum wanted to do more shopping. Hehehe. By 5.30pm, we left Orchard as we didn't want to be in the crowd, for Marina Square. Did a bit of window shopping before Jason came to join us. John Little was having SALES. Had dinner at Waraku Jap Res, before bringing them to see the Fountain of Wealth. Had a cup of coffee before going home.

At fountain of wealth

On Christmas day, we went over to my granduncle's place, sat down awhile, and by 12pm, we left the place. Jason brought my parents to the bus station, while I had to go to Sunnydale to prepare for the Christmas lunch. Hehehe.. and that, I'll leave it to another post for it.. :)

Will post up some pics once we're back in Spore. Till then, chaoz...

Change...

...is the only constant thing in life - Anonymous-

The year 2007 has been a year full of changes for me..
And I'm expecting some more changes in 2008!

Woo Hoo!

Might not have the time to blog, so have a Blessed Christmas everyone!!!

Christmas stocking given to every employee while having a caroling session at the whole office this morning. Inside is a miserable Julie's peanut biscuits and a sweet. Oh well, it's the thought that counts, I supposed. :)

Wet, wet, wet...

The weather has been so grey and wet the past few days. Nice time to sleep, but have to work. And today, being a holiday, supposed to go to ECP to roller-blade, but it rained! Hahaha.. anyway, good excuse for me to stay in bed... where after a while, I got up anyway because I couldn't go back to sleep. By the time we took our brunch, it was close to noon. Sigh. And it was still drizzling.

About 1.30, L&L came to pick us up, and off we go, heading for the G2k warehouse sales. Checked out the map, and we were there. I bought 2 sleeveless tops (one for $8, another for $13 - knitted), and two pairs of pants. ($16 each). Cheap or what? Most of the clothes there were G2k Blu. Jason bought 2 long-sleeved shirts ($13 each) and one jersey type collared-t shirt, $10. Muahaha. At the end, I bought 2 Ty's teddy bears for my nieces, $5 each and one bigger teddy for myself, $10. It's been a long time since I had a soft toy. And they're original Ty's ok? At the counter, Jason chucked another Remy' Martin's Swiss chocolate into the basket. It has V.S.O.P, champagne, cognac... for $6. *Phew*. It was still drizzling when we were done. sigh...

Next, we headed for Ikea.. (They joy of having a car is that, it takes merely a 15 mins drive to these places.. hahaha)...Just bought a roll of wrapping paper (5 pcs/5 colors) for $5.90. Jason bought a table lamp or $15.90. Yeah, he needs one 'cause his test is end of the month. Need more "light" to study. Kekeke.. then we had lunch/tea of meatballs and chicken wings. Yummy! Lots of people.

Went back after that, lazing around, ate Ben & Jerry's ice cream (Chunky Monkey) - thanks to K :) It's super nice. Banana ice cream with chunky fudge chocolates and walnuts. 1 pint. Still have about half of it. It's so filling.. So I guess.. that's for our dinner..

Wanted to go for a jog.. but looking at the weather... nehh.. so lazy.. sigh.. I guess it'll be the gym tomorrow after work already. Have to slim down to fit in my 2 pair of pants. Muahahha... No one believes me that I've put on weight except my mum :P... Life is good in Spore? Hmmm... I'll leave that for you, my dear readers, to conclude. :)

Lil' shopping & some updates...

Bought a Samsonite laptop bag yesterday at the end of the luggage bag sales at Parkway Parade. It was slashed from $110 to $66. Jason said it's a good buy. And yeah.. so he got it for me for as Christmas prezzie. :P Thanks, my dear...

I was actually more interested in the luggage bag, as it was slashed from $440++ to $199, and it was the biggest size. Quite worth it, but.. too bulky.. without anything, it was already 6kg. Hahaha.. Imagine plus your luggage, it'll be heavier. Anyway, we'll wait for the poly-carbonate one to slash more.. It's big, and light-weight. And not to mention, pricey, but durable. (LY, yours the best-lah). Since we're not going anywhere yet, so it's worth waiting... I hope.. hehee..
Jason bought a pair of running shoes.. (Else, he's complaining that he has no shoes to exercise.. but anyway, his shoes already had a crocodile mouth.. haha) Everywhere in Parkway was on sales.. Levi's jeans had sales up to 50%, Giordano was having sales up to 40%, right now, there's G2k warehouse sales, MNG was having sales up to 50% and lots more. In fact, lots of places now are having sales. Especially warehouse sales. It's crazy.

But then again, I might just pick another top/pants or two, and that's it for me. Hehehe. Not really in a mood to shop right now. Kekeke.

Yeah, I was hunting for the so-called German "Christmas cake" we had last time at my ex-company, where a German colleague brought it while on business trip to Melaka. It's actually fruit cake, but it has rum and covered with white sugar toppings. It was superb! (Right, Miki?) We were also hunting for cherry-liqour-chocs.... and guess where I found them? Marks & Spencers. Yeah.. I saw it! the chocs were good. Strong taste of brandy. Hehehe.

Ahhh... this week's gonna be a great week.. with a holiday in between (Thursday), and am looking forward to go to ECP to rollerblade with the gang...It's been such a long time since I roller-bladed after the horrifying incident... (Actually, most prob just with Ken & PX - if she's ok by then, not sure if Punchie will be joining us). And then, it'll be the Christmas event in church the whole weekend, and my dept's BBQ at my big boss' house, and my family will be here on Sunday!

Looking forward to an exciting Christmas.... Are you?

Going on a spree...

Yeah.. Photo-taking spree.. kekekkee.. Even though now MNG is having 50% sales and everywhere sales, but am excited today coz we'll be going to Orchard Road with our cameras and tripods.. Yeah.. A DLSR-like (Nikon P5100) camera and a real DLSR (Nikon D70) camera.. muahaha...

Might try my hand in handling the DSLR... hoping the owner trusts me with it..

Till then.. have a blessed evening and weekend ahead, everyone!

My Christmas-es...

I can still remember vividly, as a child, Christmas was something I really looked forward to. We had loads of fun. :)

Remembering, when I was ten, we had children's carolling. And we practiced hard. Sunday school teachers gave their all, in our practices, and also costumes. Not only did we have carollers, but we had Mary, Joseph, the three wise men, 2 little lambs, shepherds, angels, and etc. And of course, it's the time of the year we get to put on make-up! Hehehe... and we travel to church members' places in a bus, over a period of at least two days... It was fun, exciting, and I can still remember my friends who were with me at time.. We practically grew up together. :) All those who can testify to this, say aye!

When I was eleven, we had a big Christmas event at the Hang Tuah Hall. Our choir made up of adults, young adults and youths. We had a very good conductress, who was a no-nonsense lady (a pro too). We had to do our vocal warm-ups before we go for our practices, and what I can remember is we have to o-p-e-n our mouths, to at least fit an orange or three fingers in height. And our pronunciation must be "perfect". Words like king must have the -ing sound at the back, loud and clear, and words like the must be pronounced with the tip of the tongue showing out, and words like it must have the t sound loud and clear. We sang in parts. Soprano (usually the melody), alto, tenor, and bass. I was always in the soprano side (not sure about now, though). Hahaha. They called the production, "Christmas Bell". We had a huge bell decorated nicely with lights and all just behind where the choir was standing. It was grand. We even had a shadow play on the birth, and crucifixion of Jesus on the cross. I still remember how the atmosphere was when we sang "Do you hear what I hear" in parts! And it was through these practices (months before!) that we got to know church members better, the fellowship and especially giving us the Christmas mood as early as in August. :)

When I was twelve & thirteen, we went carolling again! Woo Hoo! It was alternate years, where one year will be children's carolling, the next will either be the adults carolling or the youth. And yeah, I enjoyed youth carolling too. We did not only sing, we had songs with sign languages, solos, and songs with actions. And thanks to our dear youth leaders, and conductresses, Liz & Joanne , we had fun!!! I miss GY days... *boo hoo* And we had a group of guitarists, abt three/four of them, so it's really nice!

When I was fourteen, we had Christmas Joy Parade! It's where all churches in Malacca came together and we walked on the roads of Malacca, proclaiming Christ. The first year was grand. It was held for seven years after that. We were at Kubu Stadium, the starting point of the walk. We walked through the streets of the towns, as I was in the choir, we sang throughout. At the end, there was a big stage in the middle of the field and there were we, about 100+ of us from all churches. The feelings? Indescribable. Imagine, we had our choir practices also about 3-4 months in advance and the practices were held at Christ Church. The acoustics of the church was so good, that it sent goose bumps all over me when we sang. We also had a professional conductress, and she is a trainer for vocal classes. God really blessed us. I remember once we had to get out of the church and sang outside of the church to really test how loud we were. And yeah, I was in the soprano section again. Hehehe. It was pretty easy, you don't have to remember parts. My mum who was always an alto had to get her parts right. But she did well, and we always practiced together at home.

The year after that, when I was fifteen, Christmas Joy Parade again, but this time, I was involved in timbrel and dancing. Imagine having to dance all the way from the start of the parade till the end. It was great too! This time, it was a smaller group of us, about thirty... and yes, we had timbrels and ribbons.... Nice! Writing all these really makes me miss all those times we had back then. :)

When I was sixteen or seventeen, we participated in the parade, at the same time, our church had another Christmas play at MBMB hall. (Opposite Jusco now). And this time, I was to be Mary... Hahaha... do nothing, just acting preggie and walking with Joseph, who is my cousin-in-law now.

The years after that, when I was already in uni, our Christian Fellowship participated in the parade, and we walked together as a CF, singing carols as we walked. It was great too! The last year of the parade was when I was twenty, stepping into my first year of degree, I was a part of the music team that was stationed at Mahkota Parade. Hehehe. I think if not mistaken, the song leader was Ps. Joanne. :) I remembered as a CF, we performed at the Portuguese Settlement too. And not sure which year was it, we, as a CF, we performed together with other churches during the National Christmas Open House which was held at Hang Tuah Walk. It was grand.. the PM and Royal Entourage were there too..

In 2002, we had our first Christmas celebration in our uni hall. For the first time, we managed to get approval from the university authorities to have our event there. We were so blessed, and guess what, the hall was packed! We initially put in about 500 chairs, but students just kept filling in the hall till they had to stand right near the door! And that was the start, of the many Christmas events till today, they still continue with the tradition. I remember that people went early to book places and it has been packed ever since. Even our dear M friends, were so excited that when interviewed, they said they're looking forward to the next Christmas production the year after that. Some were even touched by the play that we had.

And now, after left uni, into the working world, lots of things changed, and no more participating in Christmas events. Hehehe. I guess, I just couldn't commit for the practices anymore. This year, I wanted to join the choir for Trinity's Christmas production, but I couldn't, as I know I couldn't commit to the practice schedules. It's ok, there will always be more Christmases to come... And having the first Christmas away from home... gives me a different feeling. I'm glad that my parents and brother will be down for Christmas here with me instead. Hehehe. So, nothing beats, spending Christmas with your loved ones... and of course, friends... :)

All in all, each and everyone of us, must know, the true meaning of Christmas.. It's not just about presents, trees, Santa Claus, events... Christmas has been so "commercialised", so to speak, that it has lost it's true meaning...It is more to that... It's a time for sharing, giving and loving... Also, to remember the greatest love of all... God the Father, sending His Son, through this humanly birth, so that He was able to sacrifice for all the sins and fall of mankind... And that we are redeemed by His blood that was shed on the cross, to be made whole once again... (this, I will share when Good Friday comes.. :P)

A song that I sung, since I was a kid:

Christmas Isn't Christmas

Christmas, isn't Christmas
Till it happens, in your heart
Somewhere, deep inside you
Is where Christmas, really starts
So give your heart to Jesus
You'll discover when you do...
That is Christmas, really Christmas, for you...

Jesus brings warmth like a winter's fire
A light like a candle's glow
He's waiting now, to come inside, as He did so long ago
Jesus brings gifts of truth and life
And makes them bloom and grow
So welcome Him with a song of joy
And when He comes you'll know...

Till then... I wish you love, joy, peace, this Christmas.. God bless!

How to apply for PR (II)

continued from How to apply for PR (I)

After getting the approval letter, you will be required to perform another round of formalities they call it.

1. Fill in the forms attached to the letter. For medical report, I put under self-declaration because my medical report which was for my Employment Pass is still valid (2 years).

2. Send the form EP152 to HR again for a verification. Once done, need to go through another round of submission.

3. I reached ICA at about 7.40am. Queue was almost right to the back of the building. However, my queue ticket was number 16. Not bad, eh? And I took the lift this time :P

4. Wait fo your turn. Once called, submit in your forms, hand in THREE pcs of your photos. Then, they will ask you to pay through NETS. (No cash allowed). $100 for entry permit, $50 for re-entry permit (5 years).

5. Once done, go back to your seat and wait the 2nd time round. They will call for your same number again. Once called, go there again (different counters) to take your thumbprints. Both hands, once through the IR, another on black ink.

6. Once done, you have to pay through NETS again, $50 for IC.

7. Wait again for the final formality. The interview. Your number will be called, go to the interview room, basically they just past you your cert, hand back your passport and sign to verify that you have received the items. They will also hand you a slip stating the date you can go collect your IC. Done, you can go off. I finished mine at about 10.45am.

8. Move down straight to 2nd floor if you're planning to do your Access Card. What is it for? It's like a pass, where you can easily just scan and go through the immigration checkpoints without waiting in queue.

9. This was done in less than 5 mins. Go straight to counter on the left, get queue ticket, then wait. They will call you, show them your passport and hand them one more picture. And also, thumbprint. Pay $30 for 3 years validity. Voila! You're done, you get your access card on the spot.

10. A week later, go back to ICA, straight to 2nd floor for the collection of your IC.

So.. yeah,.. that's about it.. hehehe.. :)

How to apply for PR (I)

This blog is basically for Msians working in Spore under a work pass and those who are contemplating on becoming a PR and those who are keen to work in Spore. Ignore if you don't fall in the above categories. :)

Today I just went to perform PR formalities. This is basically how the process goes, for those of you who are interested, so be prepared to read a long one. :).
For more details, you may go to the Immigration & Checkpoint Authority webby.

1. Get yourself a job here. After collecting at least 3 months of payslip (actually it's officially 6 months, we gave 4 months payslips), you can start to apply already. You can download the forms here.

2. Fill up form 4A. There is explanatory notes EP4 to which you can find a whole checklist of what forms or documents needed to apply. Note, if you miss one, you have to re-apply again, which is very troublesome. So take time to do it real careful and if possible, do a double, if not a triple check once completed.

3. Once done, you have to pass the Annex A form (last page of form 4A) to your company's HR executive. They will be required to fill in the details as required. For mine, they required us to fill up form 4A for them to check the details. Once the Annex A form is verified and filled up by HR, you are ready to apply!

4. For photographs, I took mine at ICA itself a day before I submitted my application forms. (Practically every floor has one booth). Why ICA? Because they are strict with the measurements. It cost me $5.30 for 4 pcs of photos. Note, better to do one dozen straight away because you'll need it for the second time around. But this time, I took the picture from a nearby photo shop, as I didn't want to wait in queue for a long time. And it went through too. :) Good to have the ICA one as a reference though.

5. We went on a Saturday, reached there at about 6.30am, and there were about 25-30 ppl in front of us. Once the doors are opened at 8am, everyone goes in. Take the lift direct to 5th floor - faster (Unless you are able to run up the escalators for 5 storeys like what I did, then it'll be fine).

6. Once reach 5th floor, queue for a queue ticket. :P To get a queue ticket, you have to make sure your forms are completed, and photos are with you else, they won't give you a queue ticket. This is like a preliminary check of your documents.

7. We were queue number 18 and 19. If you're applying together, (one person is sponsor, the other, dependant), then you only need one queue ticket. Wait for your turn, submit your forms.

8. We finished at about 8.30am - 8.45am.
