Onde-Onde & Black Ku-Kueh

Yeah, I made onde-onde and black ku-kueh during my last trip home.. not easy making the black ku-kueh, especially the leaves for the coloring.. lots of work..! so, anyone interested in making onde-onde or ang-ku-kueh? i find it pretty easy.. hehehe.. :) More pics on my Facebook!

Missing home...

I miss home. *sob sob*. I had some time adjusting getting use to taking trains and buses when I reached Spore. Hehe.. 10 days of driving around in the comfort of the car.. ahhh.. and also staying at my parents' place when Jason wasn't around. And also going to my in-laws place in Segamat. nice... It was truly a break that I needed.

I missed the cooking "lessons" I had with my aunt... Enjoyed every moment of it. Who says being a housewife is easy??? I had aches all over the next morning when I woke up. Imagine the hours of preparing and standing on your two feet while cooking and preparing the dishes. Hehehe...

I miss playing with Philo. She's really grown, her fur is sooooo nice and golden now...

The times when I played catch with her as well as training her to "stay" at her place and not moving. Anyway, on the day we came back from Segamat and before leaving for Spore, I dropped by mum's place and found out she broke the flower-pot. She had a yelling in the morning from mum I guess, and no wonder I saw she was extremely quiet when I went home for awhile. She didn't bark at all. Hehehe.. Smart dog..
She'll be one year come April.. I think she has reached her "size". Just love her dreamy eyes and her doggy attitude. It surprises me at times. :P

When I was back at my in-laws place, how I miss the durians! But there was none. *sad*. We had steam-boat though. Hehehe....

Well, being at home for 10 days and meeting up with different ppl with different walks of life.. makes me ponder what is God's will for me...

I miss home... I really do... but at the same time, I missed Spore as well...Basically it's more of the daily routine as well as church friends! Miss hanging out with them after church service.. Kakaka.. Well, this whole thing contradicts myself, huh? Ah well..... I am so looking forward to this Friday... :)

Garden in the Kitchen

Found this in the kitchen today.. Pretty interesting.. I can forsee that in the future my kitchen would "grow" these too.. hahaha... Can you guess what are these?

No prizes for the correct answers, though.. :P

quick updates... *edited*

1) Will be back in Segamat this weekend and thereafter in Malacca on Monday.. :D (Hoping if there's durians and mangosteens now)

2) Am still surviving, I still have a job.. Praise the Lord for His love & mercies endures forever.. We are not in want.. :)

3) Christmas decor along Orchard Road is such a disappointment this year! one word: U-G-L-Y
- must be because of the recession. hehehe...

4) Irony of things: We're in a midst of a technical recession but yet, I still see people spending and dining out and shopping malls packed and crowded!

5) COE price was $2 yesterday. It's so crazy! Arggghhhh!

6) Citibank is laying off 52k staffs worldwide. W-O-W! Aren't you grateful that you still have a job on hand? (even though you have multiple days of shutdown, pay-cuts and what not?)

7) Property prices here are going down... slowly but surely... woo hoo! - saving up now... :P

8) Am going to have lots of Penang char kuey tiaws & asam laksa after Christmas.. yummy!

9) Just played Little Big Planet on PS3 yesterday...technically it was hubby, not me. It's so cute!! I just love the graphics! Now I know why Fy is hooked on this :P ...now.. it would be nicer if we had a bigger screen.. hehehehe....

10) Am looking forward to new year as will be having a small reunion with ex-schoolmates & their weddings... :)

11) Just came back from gym and realised that I'm almost nearing the weight that I was during my wedding day, about 2 years back! Just that I think, I love the way my tummy is now.. Kekeke.. :) Argghh.. Can't imagine once preggie, everything will be out of proportion.. :( Unless I can be like mummy Fay.... instant size reduction after birth. Hahaha...

there you go.. real quick ones.. :P till then.. have a blessed weekend everyone!!

This weekend....

yeah yeah yeah.. so you got the hint? I'm going back to Malacca today!!! Woo hoo! Have not been back for about a month.... :)

Home Sweet Home

Ah.. it was a pretty rush day for me. The new boss sent an engineer down to support me on my current project. Fine. So, I had to "layan" him over the morning side. And, besides that, I had a few customer issues on hand. But it's ok. Of late, have been chatting quite a bit with my customer on non-work-related stuffs. Which was pretty good. I don't get stressed up each time she calls me. Hahaha.

Later in the afternoon, had conference call, the usual one. With the new boss and the engineer sitting in with me. I told them it's gonna be a short and sweet one. They believed me after that. Anyway, I'm glad the engineer is around to help me. At least he can focus on our internal issues and I can focus on customer complaint issues.

I feel "lighter" today. In a sense, I see some "light" at the end of the tunnel. My boss and my colleague encouraged me to pray harder.. to see a miracle in some sense, getting transferred back to my current boss. Haha. Even if not, they gave me assurance through the daily verse, that in whatever circumstance I'm going through, He will never leave me, nor forsake me. Amen!

I'm so glad to be home! First, I got back the car, and it really feels good behind the wheels. I think I will drive to Segamat the next time Jason goes home. Ha! Thanks to Liza for cleaning the car! It's sparkling clean! Hehehe. And second, when I got back, I could hear Philo barking at me as though she has not seen me for a long time even though I was back 2 weeks ago. She has grown slightly taller, and cuter. My dad, of all people is starting to love her??!! It's a miracle! Mum said it's good. Dogs can change/ soften people's character, and I hope Philo does that to Dad. Hahaha.

And guess what.. right now, my bro is preparing maggi mee for me..Yes, you read that right! hahaha.. at 12.50am. Yes, I'm famished. Didn't eat much during dinner just now, so.. after the journey, am hungry. He wanted to ask me go for "mamak".. But I'm so lazy to move my butt and change and go out. After being in Spore for more than a year, I really became lazy going out for late night suppers. Haha.

Okies.. got to go... and have my supper.. yummy!

:: Currently in Malacca ::

Woopie! It's good to be back home! It's good to be driving again! Muahaha...
Will be having my fav foods cooked by my aunt tonight for dinner. Can't wait to eat homecooked-food. So, all of you, appreciate your mum's cooking!

Till then... to all Sporeans, have a great national day weekend!

In Malacca... *updated*

Was in Malacca last weekend, and I really miss home! Aihh.. there's still no place like home.. either at my parents or at my own home... And my dad still tells me.. "Put aside the political and economical situation here, Malaysia is still the best place to live in". I can agree 101% to it. And that's why, we're never, ever, ever, giving up our citizenship. :P We hope to retire in M'sia some day. Jason's looking forward to it. So we must set a target to retire earlier than the usual age. Hahahaha.. God-willing. :)

Updates on Philo:
She's grown since the last 2 weeks I went back. She's much taller now, and is already at about 3 months plus. Playful as ever. Check out the video. :P

She and her slippers. Mum was eating fried bananas. And she knows. :P

Next up is baby Ethan! Yes... I managed to squeeze in some time to visit mummy Liza, daddy Len, & baby Ethan. He's really grown so much and his face somehow changed a bit. This time got a mixture of both of his mum & dad. Hehehe.
Managed to catch a few of his cute little antics. Hehe. Just wondering how come none of my friends have baby girls this year? So far I know, all giving birth to boys! :) Tis' the season? Hehehe. Check out the video of Ethan. He's trying to talk :)

Missing Philo *sob sob*

Yes, I really missed her. She's so fun, though she kept on biting my feet, toes, fingers, and anything else her mouth could get on to, to ease the "itchiness" of her gum as she's teething right now.

She's just soooo adorable! Sigh.. And I can see mum's rather "attached" to her too.. This is the first time a dog has ever stepped foot into my parents' house. Hahaha. My dad dislikes dogs, but looking at Philo and her funny antics (not to mention very smart ones too!) it's so hard not to like her.... I did see a smile on dad's face when she gave her "10-cent" face when mum scolded her. Mum's been telling me everyday about her funny antics. I wished I didn't have to go back to Segamat. I wished I could stay longer to play with her. I know the next time round, I might not see her already, as Auds will be bringing her back to KL.

I hope mum gets one too. Hahaha. She said it's quite a stress-reliever after a hard day's work. She's so manja too at times. She has the cute eyes of a cocker, nice fur like a retriever, and ears abit like the cocker.. and brains? Both! She's just so smart! And only at 2 months! My cousin taught her some tricks, like to sit, and to paw. And she could do it. Mum and I tried to teach her how to roll... But I guess she's still young, don't know how to roll. Hahaha... Ah.. missing her...

Last Weekend

I was in Melaka last weekend.. missed Melaka's life... Won't be back till mid July as we have something on in Singapore for the next few weeks... Ah well..
Some updates:

Went for my 2nd cousin's wedding (dad's cousin's daughter)... and guess what? I met a few of my ex-classmates and friends... Crys,KS,KL,etc......Good to meet up with them.. and KS's tummy (8 months preggie) is seriously showing :) Hope you have a good time in Kuantan, and let me know when the baby is out!!!

The next day, after church, went for pork satay with MayYin, Jess, KL again.. yup.. the same 4 us... eating again.. hahahaa.... ahh.. seriously miss the life back in Melaka... But then again, I wouldn't say life here is bad neither is it good.. I guess, once we get our own place to stay.. and hopefully a car *hint hint*.. think it'll be great.. :P Though, my conscience tells me that getting a car is seriously a "no need". :P oklah.. bla-ed enough...

It's been awhile...

...since I last update. Been rather busy at work actually. Have pics, but no time to load them. Hahaha... So, some updates that happened the whole of last week...

Thursday, 8th May
Steven was in town, Jason's buddy in uni. So we gathered and went out for dinner. Hubs, me, Steph (Steve's sis), and Jules. And guess where we went... to Shokudo again.. hehehe.. This time round, we didn't have our desserts there.. but instead, we went to the Esplanade to have our dessert at this sweet-smelling-choc place. The minute you step in, you can smell the fresh chocolate smell. Lovely! Makes you really "melt" in it. Hahaha...

On the way to Esplanade, they had some art works published along the way as the Singapore Arts Festival is coming up...Pretty interesting pieces of art work...

At the entrance of Max Brenner's

The menu

Pancake with Belgian chocz and superb berries!

Our drinks...If only I can capture the smell of the chocz in this pic :P

Saturday, 10th May
Celebrated mum's day instead of Sunday because mum had to be on a course starting that evening, till next Saturday. We went to the club to have lunch. After my facial session in Jusco, mum was around there shopping.. So I got her, her prezzie... I had this Lancome EDT as my birthday gift last year and it smells good that I use it to work nowadays. It's light and mild. So I brought my mum to the Lancome counter to get a perfume for her. Got her this. Sweet smelling.. Their latest.
That night, we attended Anthony's wedding... Congrats!

So, that was the whole of last week... Need to knock off now.. Have to sleep early these days... tired out easily.. Hehehe.. Have a good week ahead, everyone! God bless...

:: sick ::

I was sick. And I'm STILL sick. Had slight sore throat and flu last Thursday. It worsened as the days went by, that I was practically "konk-ed" out on Saturday afternoon. I slept through out the afternoon, till about 9pm, took light dinner which consists of a slice of bread and few pieces of biscuits and milo, and went back to sleep again.

Never felt so weak in a long, long, long time. It's not a nice feeling. Though I must say I was pretty fortunate to rest at home, in my old bedroom (at my parents'). Ha!

Am back to work now, feeling rather drowsy now. Anyway, on a lighter note, nothing much to do in the office these days. Looking forward to the farewell lunch later. Oh, I hope I get well soon by the end of the week. Do not want to start on the new job being sick. :(

*ahhhhh choooo*

I miss...

1. my home back in Melaka
2. my king-size bed & hard mattress
3. my room overall...
4. big spaces (w/o bumping into homo sapiens like every 1/3 second!)
5. my nieces
6. lil' Cophie
7. home-cooked food. (even mum's simple fried rice would do, or aunt's pongteh, delicious soups, ikan masak nanas, chicken/beef rendang, NASI LEMAK, mee goreng, mee siam, yam cake, ikan goreng with cili garam, kuih bungkung, delicious thong shui's...etc, get it?)
8. just lepak-ing at home, doing nothing
9. going shopping/ spending a mum-and-daughter day with mum
10. going for hi-teas with my aunts & cuzs!

*sob sob*
*hungry now*

My Easter weekend

* Note: This is gonna be a long post with lots of pictures.. Bear with me :)*

It was a great weekend in Malacca, with the additional public holiday of Good Friday. We left for Spore at about 7pm (rushed for the bus like a mad person), as usual, there were traffic jams everywhere. Reached Malacca at about 11pm. :)

Next morning, went to the dentist for my checkup. After that, we both went our separate ways for lunch. Jason went lunch with his ex-dept from Qimonda, whereas, I went out with Joey & Hazel. (forgot to take pic with Joey. Hehehe)

Jason's lunch with ex-colleagues

He caught up with us at coffee bean (JJ)

1st pic taken with phone sec cam (front);
2nd pic taken with phone normal cam (back)

After that, we visited JaMi before they left for KL that evening, to play with the new addition to their family, Cophie. He's a mixed breed of maltese and poodle. He is only 2 months old. Super adorable. :)

That night, we had pot bless at Joseph's house with some of the church members. His is a bungalow, and he even has swings for his nephews and nieces when they come to visit him. As you can also see, he has a couple of dogs, a labrador retriever mixed breed, Smiley, and a retriever, Dodi. Very handsome and smart dogs. And of course, took some pics with my beloved nieces, Crystal & Celine. Hehehe.

The next day, I didn't bring my camera out so no pictures, but we managed to clean and mop the whole house that afternoon. It feels good. Hehehe. The two kids were over at my parents place, with their dad while waiting for their mum to finish her facial session nearby. Crystal will be seven this December, and Celine will be three this August. Some phrases and conversations with the little one.

(Mum gave 2 pieces of biscuits and put in a plate for Celine, then as they were starting to walk out of the kitchen...)
Mum: Celine, ask jie-jie (big sister in Mandarin) if she wants to eat some biscuits...
Celine: (without asking her sister), No, jie-jie don't want to eat.
All of us laughed, because she answered on behalf of her sister, and mainly, because she didn't want to share her biscuits. Hahahaha.

While watching a movie, they were bored, Crystal was coloring in her book and also scribbling...
Celine: Daddy, jie-jie conteng. (scribble in Malay)
We were all shocked because she knew how to use that word! Must be from her grandma.Haha.
Of course there were other phrases that she used which caught us by surprise and she was pretty friendly and chatty the whole weekend.

Took the pics below in church on Sunday, and during lunch. Happy with the stickers I gave them.

After church, we went to the optical shop to change Jason's specs frame. It broke. Then we visited the Teus. Have not seen them ever since their daughter was born.. like a year ago? Hehehe.

Lil' YingYing is sooo cute. I still can't make out whose face does she look like. I guess it's a mix.
When we were there, she was sleeping, and the first pic was when she just got up, playing with her "doggy". She could even nicely dance to the tune that the doggy played. Hehehe. We had to leave cause we had to pack to go back to Spore, and so I nicely said to her, "Come let's go" with my arms open wide. Surprisingly, she wanted me to carry her. Ha... And she can even wave goodbye to her parents with an additional flying kiss to each of them...

Then she saw my handbag, and wanted to carry it... So I let her. After that, her mum wanted to take the handbag away, and I also tried, she refused to let go of the bag, but instead, she can wave goodbye to both her parents with the bag on her arm. Hahaha. Her mum wanted to carry her, but she was clinging on to me. It was such a funny sight. In the end, we gave her a tupperware bottle to carry and I got back my bag. *phew*. She was kind of confused in the end because she thought she was supposed to follow me, but ended up in her mum's arms. Smart and cute girl.

Ahh.. kids....so cute and adorable to play with.. but you'll never know how they can be like when u have to take care of them... :P

So overall, I guess it was a good weekend. Managed to do a lot of things with the house and also catch up with friends...

I hope you had a good weekend too, did you? (yeah, I need to hit off to the gym after all the good food back in Melaka.. sigh)

Chit Chat

Aha! How many of you didn't vote? Not doing your duty as a citizen eh? *wink wink* Hehehehe..

Anyway, overall, I am pleased with the results. Even though my parents were a bit worried if Melaka falls into the hands of the opposition maybe because they don't have the experience of running a state government. And so it didn't. :)

Nevertheless, we shall give them a chance for one term, especially for those states which are currently now under the opposition's rule. Like someone said ( I can't remember which blogger/ minister), [paraphrased], "Vote for those whom you think is capable. But if they don't perform, easy, just vote for the other person the next time round." Which is pretty fair, ya?

Changes, changes, changes, I guess we'll pretty much see more these in the near future. Change is good. It gives those around it some motivation to press harder, or else, like for this case, the govt tends to take the people for granted. Muahaha... and they become complacent.. and so on...

On another note, I might be going through some changes soon. Not sure exactly when, but then again, like the previous post, it's a mixed feeling. And to add on to that feeling, I do feel agitated because some people are just trying to make things hard for the change, just so, to protect their own interests. But then again... I don't easily give up :) Am just praying for a smooth change and for this issue, to past on quickly.

OkOkOk, enough of my ramblings... I had a great time back home in Malacca, time spent with family and also catching up with a friend over tea. And I had a great time with my nieces. Missed them.... greatly. *sob sob*

Jason went back to Segamat (both of us didn't change our addresses in our IC, hahaha), and he brought back another 18kgs of durians. Hee Hee Hee. The smell is just so pungent, that if you put it right at the back of the kitchen, you can smell it at the living room. Anyway, we're both now on a detox program. Too much of food already. Need to clean our bowels. :P Opps... here it's comes again...

Mixed feelings..

Having mixed feelings with the situation I'm going through now. But at the same time, I am glad, that this situation is finally coming to past. Will let you know what is it when the time is right.

And no, don't get me wrong, it has nothing to do about me getting pregnant. :P

**********
Woo hoo.. today is Friday, and I thank God for this wonderful day as I'm looking forward to go back to home sweet home. Have not been home since CNY. Missing my bed!

Have a wonderful weekend, ya all...and remember to VOTE if you're a registered voter! After that, remember to r-e-l-a-x!

Post CNY Holidays (I)

CNY has just passed a few days ago, and I'm back to work since yesterday, Tuesday. Ahhh... really no mood to work.. but work has already been piled up...
Anyway, some flashbacks of how my CNY was spent...

Went back straight to Jason's homey on Tuesday eve by train, reached Segamat at about 10pm. Spent the eve, first and a bit of 2nd day of CNY there plainy eating, visiting, watching tv, sleeping. That's how I now need to go on a strict diet. :P

On the 2nd day we came back to Melaka after lunch, and headed straight for grandma's house in Masjid Tanah. Down there, couldn't resist her itik tim soup; and her sate ayam and her acar. After that, went back to bath, and rushed for steamboat dinner at my 2nd uncle's (dad's side) place.

At about a few minutes past 9pm, called my classmates and met up with them at Asian Havana cafe. It's a new cafe, apparently it's quite a happening place in Malacca, or so... that's what we thought. Hehehe.. Ambience of the cafe was not bad, but found it quite cramp and small for big groups. And they only have one floor. And drinks there.. hmm.. no comments, but I thought the ice blended mocha I ordered was very plain and diluted. Anyway, it was really good to see everyone after a full long year.. :P

Xin Nian Kuai Le, Ma Dao Gong Cheng

Soon, I'll be joining the exodus of people who will balik kampung (going home) for the new year celebrations... so, here's a wish for all readers out there who's celebrating CNY...

And HAPPY HOLIDAYS to the rest of you not celebrating CNY. :)

A House that will be a Home

The song we sang for Len&Liza's wedding is still stuck in my head, thus, the title is part of the song, where it says, "A house that will be a home, a reflection of His face".

This is also what we, Jason & I have that end in mind when we bought the house. Most of you might think, yeah, a home will be when we have kids and yada, yada, yada... But we thought something other than that. Hehehe...

We wanted to open up our house for cell group (every Friday) back then, but didn't have the chance too, as we were already moving to Spore by that time. But am glad, because the house has so far, hosted a CNY gathering (about 20 of us in the house), yum cha sessions with colleagues & friends (before the wedding), BBQ session (house was still pretty empty that time) and people who came to visit Melaka, like Jason's aunt, eRic! (twice? 3 times?), Jason's Sgt friends, family members (for our wedding) our Spore cell group (7 of them!) last month, and just over the weekend, our colleagues who came down for the wedding.

Is it tiring? For me, partly tired, but I felt great/satisfied/blessed as the house gets noisy and homely.. hehehe.. Hoping for more visitors to come.. Oh yeah, we'll be preparing the house for a dear family friend who will be down from Australia for a month's visit.

For those who came, sorry that we didn't have enough time to prepare enough good mattresses, pillowcases, and blankets. Also sorry, if we weren't good hosts. :) Both, Jason & I are truly blessed to have each and everyone of you coming over in our humble home. I think I shall get a guest book next time. Hahaha...

So, anyone coming down/up to Malacca, and need a place to bunk in, do let us know in advance, we'll gladly open our home to you... God bless. :)
