How to apply for PR (I)
This blog is basically for Msians working in Spore under a work pass and those who are contemplating on becoming a PR and those who are keen to work in Spore. Ignore if you don't fall in the above categories. :)
Today I just went to perform PR formalities. This is basically how the process goes, for those of you who are interested, so be prepared to read a long one. :).
For more details, you may go to the Immigration & Checkpoint Authority webby.
1. Get yourself a job here. After collecting at least 3 months of payslip (actually it's officially 6 months, we gave 4 months payslips), you can start to apply already. You can download the forms here.
2. Fill up form 4A. There is explanatory notes EP4 to which you can find a whole checklist of what forms or documents needed to apply. Note, if you miss one, you have to re-apply again, which is very troublesome. So take time to do it real careful and if possible, do a double, if not a triple check once completed.
3. Once done, you have to pass the Annex A form (last page of form 4A) to your company's HR executive. They will be required to fill in the details as required. For mine, they required us to fill up form 4A for them to check the details. Once the Annex A form is verified and filled up by HR, you are ready to apply!
4. For photographs, I took mine at ICA itself a day before I submitted my application forms. (Practically every floor has one booth). Why ICA? Because they are strict with the measurements. It cost me $5.30 for 4 pcs of photos. Note, better to do one dozen straight away because you'll need it for the second time around. But this time, I took the picture from a nearby photo shop, as I didn't want to wait in queue for a long time. And it went through too. :) Good to have the ICA one as a reference though.
5. We went on a Saturday, reached there at about 6.30am, and there were about 25-30 ppl in front of us. Once the doors are opened at 8am, everyone goes in. Take the lift direct to 5th floor - faster (Unless you are able to run up the escalators for 5 storeys like what I did, then it'll be fine).
6. Once reach 5th floor, queue for a queue ticket. :P To get a queue ticket, you have to make sure your forms are completed, and photos are with you else, they won't give you a queue ticket. This is like a preliminary check of your documents.
7. We were queue number 18 and 19. If you're applying together, (one person is sponsor, the other, dependant), then you only need one queue ticket. Wait for your turn, submit your forms.
8. We finished at about 8.30am - 8.45am.
