Ex-Qimonda/IFIC @ SG gathering

Alas, another small gathering for those of us here in Spore.. I heard there's another one arranged in Malacca this weekend.. We went to Tony Roma's of course, for the 1-for-1 main course deal. So of course as usual, the restaurant was packed! It was very good as usual, but I didn't finish my ribs!!! Argggh! Was not feeling well actually.. And yes, would like to take this opportunity to wish HM, happy Birthday!

HW's prawns.. looks good!

My ribs & fish fillet.. Not sure why I had a slightly extra portion of ribs. Yummy!

Jason's ribs & steak. He said it was really, really, really good.

Group pic outside the restaurant.. :)

Yummy Treat :)

Yummy yum yum. Shirley's treat for us after we came back from Spore that weekend. Not sure the name of the place, but it's at the new mall somewhere near Bugis area. :)

Tuna wrapped in avocado flesh. Nice!

Tuna belly. ($16 per plate). Jason said it melts in your mouth. Shirley's fave.

How to Overcome Discouragement

D
iscouragement is curable. Whenever I get discouraged, I head straight to Nehemiah. This great leader of ancient Israel understood there were four reasons for discouragement.

First, you get fatigued.
You simply get tired as the laborers did in Nehemiah 4:10. We’re human beings, and we wear out. You cannot burn the candle at both ends. So if you're discouraged, it may be you don’t have to change anything.. You just need a vacation! Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is go to bed.

Second, you get frustrated.
Nehemiah says there was rubble all around. So much that it was getting in the way of rebuilding the wall. Do you have rubble in your life? Have you noticed that anytime you start doing something new, the trash starts piling up?

If you don’t clean it out periodically, it’s going to stop your progress. You can’t avoid it, so you need to learn to recognize it and dispose of it quickly so you don’t lose focus on your original intention.

What is the rubble in your life? I think rubble is the trivial things that waste your time and energy and prevent you from accomplishing what God’s called you to do.

Third, you think you’ve failed.
Nehemiah’s people were unable to finish their task as quickly as originally planned, and as a result, their confidence collapsed. They were thinking, "We were stupid to think we could ever rebuild this wall."

But you know what I do when I don’t reach a goal on time? I just set a new goal. I don’t give up. Everybody fails. Everybody does dumb things. So the issue is not that you failed – it’s how you respond to your failure.

Do you give into self-pity? Do you start blaming other people? Do you start complaining that it’s impossible? Or, do you re-focus on God’s intentions and start moving again?

Finally, when you give in to fear, you get discouraged. Nehemiah 4 suggests the people most affected by fear are those who hang around negative people. If you’re going to control the negative thoughts in your life, you’ve got to get away from negative people as much as you can.

Maybe you’re discouraged because of fear. You’re dealing with fears like, “I can’t handle this. It’s too much responsibility.” Maybe it’s the fear that you don’t deserve it. It’s the fear of criticism.
Fear will destroy your life, if you let it.
But you can choose to resist the discouragement. Say, “God help me get my eyes off the problem—off the circumstance—and keep my eyes on You..”

Amen!

Cycling & Scott's Day Out...

We went cycling yesterday.. supposedly to cycle from East Coast Park (ECP) to Changi Village and back again to ECP...roughly about 30km in all. But failed. We cycled from ECP to Changi Village.. stopped for lunch for the famous nasi lemak... And Abby,Mel,Jane joined us there.

And Abby brought her Scott! A fine pure breed of Labrador Retriever. He's already 3 years old, but he still thinks and behaves like a pup. After lazing around, we felt lazy to cycle back to ECP, thus Abby sent Ken to ECP to get the van and we finally went to Changi Beach park (just a walk away from Changi Village). We thought of getting Scott into the sea to swim, as Abby said he was afraid when she brought him last time when he was 6 months old. Among the 4 dogs she currently owns (Lab ret., Cocker, & 2 labra-spaniels), Scott is the most obedient one. So, it's easy to bring him out. Well, he went for obedience school and came out tops!, much to his master's surprise. :)

He was such a cutie. Looking for food at every chance he had. Hehe.. Well, which dog doesn't? Even Philo does that!

What a fine dog he is!

Check out the trails... super-shady! on the left is Changi airport runway..

Finally reached Changi Village.. *phew*

Of nasi lemak, hotdogs, burgers, chicken wings, fruit punches... yummy!

Scott swam! Hooray!

4 gals, 2 guys & a dog name Scott!
(using a Canon DSLR - a random guy who was photographing there shot this for us. Picture is so alive huh???)

Our Bali Adventures 2009

It's our second time back in Bali.. this time it's not just the two of us.. but seven to nine of us! All thanks to Andry, we managed to get good and cheap accommodation... not to mention.. BIG one too.. :) The main highlights of this trip was, the activities.... Jason & I said that the next time round if we ever go back to Bali, is that we want to experience the white water river rafting... and Andry suggested para-sailing last minute as well. So, I'm pretty satisfied we did these 2 while were in Bali. The rest, was bonus. :)

the living hall... the sofa can be turned into a bed at night...where at least 2 guys slept...

the kitchen... can cook here, gas stove, frying pan, cups, plates, utensils all provided...

the master-room where 3 guys slept...

the 2nd room where Yibs & I slept...

Para-Sailing @ Tg. Benoa Beach

I volunteered to be the 1st among us to go. Check out the red & blue gloves. It's to tell you which one you need to pull the ropes to make you "stop" and slowly "drop" down.

Strapping me up, ready to go...OK, I kinda admit I was abit nervous at this point of time.. hahaha..

About to land.. can you see I'm trying so hard to pull the rope to make it land at the correct spot? At this point of time, I didn't want to stop.. I wanted to go another round.. the view from up there was just to spectacular that I had no time to "swallow" everything in just yet.... But, all good things must come to an end.. *sob sob*

Visit to Tanah Lot

Yibs & I entertaining ourselves at the small bazaar before reaching the Tanah Lot entrance.. Pretty hats, ya?

A group pic at Tanah Lot

White Water River Rafting (Payung Adv)

Yibs & I at the river, getting ready for action! We got a special price for this rafting, not as advertised at their website.. Thanks to Andry.. :)

We had chocolate bath after the massage.. My skin was extremely soft and smooth...we had green tea scrubs.. :)

At the famous Kuta beach... once again, after 1.5 yrs..:)

Re-visiting after 1.5 yrs.. just that we're not staying here.. :P

FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD!

1st meal upon arrival, Ayam Betutu

The chili was stinging! But it was superb!

NASI PECEL

This is mine.. hmm... super-cheap right? It's just about S$1.30! So much of food! I don't mind eating this for economy rice everyday... tastes good!

Suckling pig, or famously known as "Babi Guling"

You get to eat every part of the pig. The ears, the TONGUE (see the rolled one?) the skin, the meat, so on.. Gross, but the fried skin actually tastes good. Hahaha. Like "keropok".

"Bebek" is duck in Indon language. Don't ask me why it's called dirty duck.. More famously known as "Bebek Bengil".

The Bebek Bengil dish.. can be served with fries or rice.. :)

The food spread at Bebek Bengil; Bebek Bengil x3, Nasi goreng (thumbs up for this!) x2, Nasi campur (nice!) x2, Gado-gado x1, assorted drinks (mixed fruit juices, ice blended).. yummy!

Last but not least, we bought lots of indo-mee for supper @ the hotel. Hehehe.

So, this ends the whole trip we had in Bali.. it was a goooooooooood and long-awaited trip...
Thank God for AirAsia too that they just recently opened their new route from Spore direct to Bali.... Awaiting for the next trip..... have to look at budget airlines promo.. I know some of them from the group will be going to climb Mt. KK in June, and some having a road-trip to Australia.. All thanks to budget airlines... Hehehe... Shall we start planning for next year? *wink*.

Missing home...

I miss home. *sob sob*. I had some time adjusting getting use to taking trains and buses when I reached Spore. Hehe.. 10 days of driving around in the comfort of the car.. ahhh.. and also staying at my parents' place when Jason wasn't around. And also going to my in-laws place in Segamat. nice... It was truly a break that I needed.

I missed the cooking "lessons" I had with my aunt... Enjoyed every moment of it. Who says being a housewife is easy??? I had aches all over the next morning when I woke up. Imagine the hours of preparing and standing on your two feet while cooking and preparing the dishes. Hehehe...

I miss playing with Philo. She's really grown, her fur is sooooo nice and golden now...

The times when I played catch with her as well as training her to "stay" at her place and not moving. Anyway, on the day we came back from Segamat and before leaving for Spore, I dropped by mum's place and found out she broke the flower-pot. She had a yelling in the morning from mum I guess, and no wonder I saw she was extremely quiet when I went home for awhile. She didn't bark at all. Hehehe.. Smart dog..
She'll be one year come April.. I think she has reached her "size". Just love her dreamy eyes and her doggy attitude. It surprises me at times. :P

When I was back at my in-laws place, how I miss the durians! But there was none. *sad*. We had steam-boat though. Hehehe....

Well, being at home for 10 days and meeting up with different ppl with different walks of life.. makes me ponder what is God's will for me...

I miss home... I really do... but at the same time, I missed Spore as well...Basically it's more of the daily routine as well as church friends! Miss hanging out with them after church service.. Kakaka.. Well, this whole thing contradicts myself, huh? Ah well..... I am so looking forward to this Friday... :)

Of the sun, beach, spa & 4 ladies..

Yes, this is our first outing after all these years....overnight trip that is...
And I'm so glad I made it back even though I was pretty tired of all the traveling over the C'mas & CNY weeks. It was really fun, and I enjoyed myself very much... And plus, I love the place! It was such a relaxed trip for all of us.. taking a short break from our busy and hectic scheduled lives and most of all, spending time with great company of friends. Of the four of us, one is in Algeria (comes back 1x/qtr), two in KL (of which, one is leaving for Australia for work for 3 years... she's leaving in March.. All the best to you, Yiin!).. and me, in Spore. It's rather rare that we can get together at the same time.. hehehe.. So here... enjoy the pics... btw, the massage was very good.. though it's a lil bit ex.. :)

Can't wait for the next trip, gals!
