Kasut Manik-Manik *updates*

It's been two weeks since I bought the stuffs for the beaded shoes. And so here are some of the updates and status of my little project.. :)

First I pasted the motive onto the cloth and tighten it against the wooden frame.
Note: Actual wooden frame is supposed to be in rectangular shape. The round one is for embroidery sewing.

Practiced a few beads first as I've forgotten how to do it.. it was 10 years ago since I last made one ok? :D

Tried doing the borders first... but it was a bit crooked and ugly! Yikes! A Nyonya can't have terrible workmanship man... If my grandma was still alive, she'll most prolly nag at me. Anyway practice makes perfect... right?

Went to get a pill box to put my beads in it, else it's so difficult to sew!
Note: You should actually put your beads in a flat saucer so it's easy to pick up the beads with your needle tip.

My progress as of today, 27th Feb 09. I switched from the borders to the patterns. I think doing the pattern first should be easier... then followed by the background. :)

Beaded shoes, in English. When Clone was down in Malacca over the weekend, we went searching for beaded shoes as her mum wanted one. It was really expensive when we took a look at a shop in Jonker Walk. RM650! Madness!

So the next day, we decided to go to Bunga Raya to find the templates for the beaded shoes. We went to a couple of the flower shops, and the one that I bought mine last time, does not sell the templates anymore. I think it's a dying trade. People would rather pay to get it done rather than doing it themselves. Since I'm having many days of shutdown, I guess, why not do this "project"? Though I can't promise myself when I'm able to finish it. :P

And so, you can see, we managed to get the template at one of the shops. Forgot the name of the shop. Opps.. Is it An Yang? All in all, it cost me RM50. Not cheap. Clone's slightly cheaper because her design is much simpler and only two colors. Mine is multi color! And I wanted to do it with finer and smaller beads coz the last time I did with bigger beads, mum said it's not really nice. Anyway, now I see and know why the smaller beads are more ex than the bigger ones. Because it's more complex, and time consuming.

The last time I did the simple design, it took me about 1-2 months, with big beads. Now, this design is slightly complicated, I'm not sure when I'll be finishing it. Haha. Anyway, let's see how it turns out.. who knows, I may make a living out of this in the future... As I know, they paid SGD1.5k for the shoes in the Little Nyonya drama series...so.. you might never know.. hahahha... but anyway, I love doing all these... it's just a hobby that I never pursued because it's extremely time-consuiming. I did the last one after my O-levels exams, while waiting for my results...so now.. hehehe... we'll see...
