Bird-A-Calling
No No, it's not what you understand. It's not what you think you would hear during sales in Melaka ("Cheap, cheap, cheap"), it's REAL bird calling.
I can't exactly find it on the internet the actual meaning, but this was somehow what was done.
I followed Jason & FIL (father-in-law) for bird calling over when we were in Segamat over the weekend. We got the equipment, basically it's a car cd-player fixed to tweeters (small car speakers, which enhances the sound system in the car) and fix the cable to the cigarette burner. Next, A few kinds of cds were played to "call" the birds. Hehehe.
Bird calling is done before you actually want to test whether that area is suitable to build a bird house. It is also to see the number of birds which actually comes circling around the tweeters, and of course, the more the better, because this means, your bird house will have lots of birds & nests. But it was a bit of a disappointment because we saw the birds rather high up in the sky, but none actually came really swooping down and low. It was unlike what Jason has seen on the video. Perhaps, we would try it again and I would take a video of it. Hehehe.
After that, we went further outskirt and it's amazing, you don't have to do bird calling, but there were dozens of them near the oil palms and durian orchards. Looking for insects to feed on before returning to the nest... Looking at it, FIL said, perhaps, there could be about a thousand in that building and perhaps more, if they have nests. Wow.
And so, nothing fruitful came out of it. Perhaps, another time round when our little experiment is successful... :)
