The Signs of...
Hungry Ghost Festival is when...
1. The futsal court and the children's playground does not have a single soul on it even though it's only 6pm. Usually it's packed with kids. Ironically, even the other non-Chinese kids are not around too. I guess they would need the Chinese kids to play with.
2. You will see joss ticks sticking in the ground everywhere and anywhere. Near the drain, sometimes, you just have to be careful you don't get burnt.
3. You would see packets of biscuits like this and also other food. We were at the Interchange and they had even much more food, complete with hot desserts, sponge cup-cakes and bigger joss sticks.
4. Last but not least, you will see this kind of tongs everywhere you go and black ash papers flying all over the place. Not only flying below you, but also above you. And, your clothes will stink and smell of smoke. And if you've washed your hair, God bless you, you need to do it again. One morning, we stepped into the lift filled with these burnt, black paper money. And the floor was wet. Go imagine.
And not helping the situation, some even burn the paper openly on the floor, without anything to cover it. So, you can just imagine when the wind blows. Talking about that, am expecting my house porch back in Melaka to be covered with black burnt paper when I go back home. :( Oh no! and I'll be having guests that weekend. (Sorry, Eric & Nick, might have to help me clean up the place before you can enter :P)
5. Other distinct observations will be the food court which is usually 100% filled, will only likely be 50% filled. And this applies to other shopping areas as well.
So for this season, usually it's best for me to go shopping! Yeah!!!... but the sales are just over. :(
As for me personally, I do believe in spiritual realms... But I have J.E.S.U.S in me.. whom shall I fear?
God bless. :)
p/s: All pictures were taken on the way back from work just now. :)

Singaporeans are very superstitious eh? Can't believe they won't even go to shopping malls! I think it's still alright to go out in the day time lor
day time still got ppl.. it's only in the night.. muahahhaa...yeah, quite superstitious... Have never seen so much of open burning ever since I came here. sometimes i wonder if it's better to give these food to the needy than "ghosts"?
Chinese is very superstitious, i agree. If you believe it, it exists. If you dun believe it, it doesnt exists. It apply to God also.
i cant fully agree with you, TY. whether you believe it or not, God exists, and He is alive! :) If God doesn't exist, we don't exist too.
