Daddy's Day
Last weekend, we were back in Melaka. We left on Sat morning, 8.30am bus. It was not the usual bus company we took from because, first, we bought the ticket only a week ago, which was rather late (yes, now we have to buy our tickets at least 3-4 weeks in advance, especially on Fridays).
Then, what made it worse was, we crossed over the causeway at about 8.40am, and the bus came to a halt. Jam all the way, going to the customs. Since there was only one lane for buses, we waited. And waited.. for about an hour just to reach the customs from the causeway. Something that usually takes a few minutes to reach, took an hour!
That being said, I think Msian customs really need to improve. We took the second link (Tuas) and it's supposed to be new, but there were only few parking bays for buses, and also a few counters compared to the customs in Spore. Didn't they thought of this before?
What is the purpose of building the second causeway when it's going to end up jammed like the first causeway (Woodlands)??
Can you imagine there were at least 20 buses in front of us, and perhaps, another 20 behind us, and all of us managed to pass through the Spore customs in such a short time. Given that it was Father's day, the Spore customs opened all the counters.
Talking about efficiency, look at the difference just before and after the causeway!
And to add to it, the bus driver made a 30-minute stop at the Yong Peng R&R. Arggh. All in all, we reached Melaka close to 2pm. Five and a half hours.
If we had taken the other bus company, it only takes us three hours to reach the Ayer Keroh toll (using Tuas link). In any case, we vow that we would buy a ticket from the bus company anymore. If there is no bus, we'll not go home.
Anyway, after that, we met up with my parents, uncle & his family , my grandma in Jusco, for lunch. After that all proceeded to my parent's house as we needed to discuss insurance stuffs and sign the policies that were prepared by my uncle. (yeah.. getting older... now need to think of writing a will :P)
Meanwhile, we managed to shop around for my dad's tshirt.. hehehe..
On Sunday, we went over to my parents place for bfast before going to church. Gave a hug and a kiss to dad and wished him a blessed daddy's day. (My dad, a man of few words, just smiled bashfully and thanked for the wishes :)) After church, we had lunch in the restaurant next to church. The church subsidized the lunch, so it's free for all the church members. We all enjoyed lunch.
That evening, we left for Spore (5.30pm) and the bus that we usually take. So we reached Spore customs at about 8.45pm (Jam in JB customs.. as usual). By the time we reached the Bugis station, it was about 9.30pm. On the way, met up with another ex-Infineon colleague (from IFMY), such a small world. hehehe. The three of us (J,me,L) after that went to MacD's for supper/dinner before returning home, at about 10.30pm.
Tiring weekend, but it was a good one, at least we managed to spend more time with family this time :)
Adios...
