GE Run 2008

Well, well, after all the training, I must say I was really disappointed with myself today... Partially, I guess because of the weather.. It has been raining cats & dogs the past whole week, and it stopped on Saturday and today... Praise the Lord for the wonderful weather, that though the sun was partially hidden behind the clouds, but it was super humid! And the heat was really sucking out every ounce of energy I had in me...And they changed the route which involved some parts going up and down the slopes...

I had to do some brisk walks in between the run... sigh.. what a contrast to last year's run...Well, timing was 4 minutes slower than last year's.. so, so, so disappointed...

Well, anyway, this could be one of my last runs of the year.. or as Liza puts it, last run before I become a mummy.. :)

my results online.. :(

17 days more to go...

Yup, to the Great Eastern Women 10k run. :)

Did a trial run today at the gym, 8km in 53 mins. Not sure if it was good timing, but I was hoping to do 8km in 45mins actually.. How to finish 10km run in 1hr?? (Last year's record was 1hr, 08 min. First timer).

So.. no excuse for this year.. Bumped into Mel at the gym today.. Poor her, her toe was "fractured" because some lady with high heels stepped on her! I hope her toe heals before the GE run so that I got company...

Last year, someone was supposed to run with me.. but then end up, I ran alone.. :P I wonder who was that someone..hmm..... :P

Glad tomorrow is Friday...  :)
Waiting for Saturday.................:) ........ :)

Ha! My Pic!

Found my pic on the Shape Run page. Can you spot me?

On my wish list...

This... is on my wish list in years to come.. So that I don't have to spend extra money on gym memberships, and I don't have to rush to a gym just to go on the treadmill. Hehehe....This thing costs a whopping £3,995.00. (Life Fitness T9i Treadmill). Hehehe.. no need to be branded. Just one that is able to withstand my weight and wide enough for me to run on. And of course, must come with all the safety features. :)

*bubble burst*

Okokok.. I'm awake now...Back to reality... sigh...

Fought a good fight, finished the race

"We fought a good fight, finished the race."

Yes! We made it. Though I was not fit, exercising once a week only (hardly 3km also), I managed to pull through. Thank God it was only 5km. If it was 10km, I can't imagine how I would go further. Anxiously waiting for our timings, though I think Mel was faster than me about a min or so. Hahaha...

The tired and hot faces

Anyway, the bag is nice! I'm certainly going to use it for swimming or gym. And yes, talking abt gym, I want to enroll myself into one to train myself for the GE run. :) And have a few vouchers on spa & massages. Coolness.. hehehehe.. Tired.. gonna konk off soon.. chaoz...

It's tomorrow!

WooHoo! Too excited for tomorrow's run. Part of me hopes that it'll rain, the other part tells me just to take a stroll.. the other part of me wants to achieve my internal target. But whatever it is, I cannot let Mel down. She's been training real hard, and very determined.. as this is her first run.. So, I must not let her down. I have to be there as I've promised to meet up with her at City Hall MRT at 6.30am. Yikes! I better sleep now... and eats lots of bananas that I bought this morning for breakfast tomorrow.

Pray that I will come out strong and not with a week of feet aches & pain that I could barely walk! Kakakaka... Have a blessed Sunday everyone!

Shape Run 08

It's this coming Sunday and I didn't really train for it. Oh man. Been very busy at work lately and with all the late nights at office, I practically don't see the sun at all... Okok, maybe just awhile during lunch break. Haha. But.. that's it!

Thank goodness I just signed up for the 5km and not the 10km. If not I'll be panicking by now. Hehehe. Anyway, my target is to finish 5k in 30 mins. You think it's possible?

Okok, so now I need to go and get another pair of shorts and a cap! And why a cap? Because I remembered running last year with the sun in my face! It was seriously painful!

Yes, I have 20% off on Nike products and also another 20% on Adidas women's apparel for the Great Eastern Women's 10k. And lots of other freebies. So far Shape Run's freebies are the best and most worth it. Kekeke.

Alrighties.. for those running together with me, see you on Sunday! WooHoo!

another reason...

... for me to join the Great Eastern Women's 10k run 2008! Received this today, and felt truly satisfied and proud of myself. :P

Was busy reading the stuffs on the right... esp my timing!

Then I turned to the left and saw my face! Hahaha. Pleasant surprise and the pic was great, at least, me in action. Jason didn't manage to capture this. My last streak of energy in me *phew*

It came together with the cert. Hehe. Anyone wants beer? *wink*

::Satisfied::

Updates: Wow. My actual timing was 1:08:39.39. To see the results, click here (page 54/95). It's amazing, I never thought I could do it. It's really way beyond my expectations. Praise the Lord. Also praise the Lord that my swell has gone down a little, and am nursing two injured legs at home now. Hehe. Praying that I'll be completely healed by this Friday.
*******************************************************************

Very satisfied. Being the first time I'm taking part in an actual international marathon, I'm satisfied with my timing. In my previous
post, I mentioned I ran 5.2km in 35 mins. But guess what? I finished at 1:15! And yeah, it could be earlier because I started later, anyway, will update on my actual timing on Tuesday when they post it online.

I woke up rather early today. Couldn't sleep. Partly it was because, I was anxious. I didn't have enough training, as I was rather lazy. And so, this morning I took two packets of Vico Oats 3-in-1, 2 bananas, and water. And was off to go. And when we reached there.. we didn't have to worry abt bananas. They had one whole booth just bananas. Hahaha. So I ate another one, and also one ginseng & vitamin E tablet that came together with the race pack. I guess, that helped a lot. After putting on my knee guard, pinning my bib and warming up, I realized the race for 10km already started. So I hurriedly went over to the starting line and went slow. (it doesn't matter if you start slightly late because I have the champion chip which takes my personal timing). Officially, it starts at 7.30am. I said a quick prayer, committing the run into His hands. I'm so anxious that I will faint or something like that. (hearing too many stories about pro runners who fainted and died after marathon). Scary. After that, my mp3 player accompanied me through the whole journey.

I jogged.. that sped up a little bit... by the 3rd km, most of the ladies have started walking. It was tiring, as the scorching heat from the sun, that I could literally feel my face burning! And at about 4km, I saw a runner passing by us from the other direction... So fast she's made the U-turn. Wow.I managed to run for at least 6km straight.. until then, I felt my legs became heavier, and heavier... But I still didn't stop. After awhile, I stopped, and resorted to brisk walking. But it was even more painful that way, so in the end, I continued jogging, but slowly.

What amazes me that I bumped into so many "aunties", like perhaps between 40-50 yrs old, and they're running! Even though slowly, but I was already at my 7km mark, and they're still jogging/walking slowly. It really puts me to shame, and that spurred me to not stop. Hehehe. It was practically a mental game. I was determined to finish the run within 1.5 hours. As I didn't have any watch to watch over my timing, I had to catch up with those consistent runners.

The last 2km was really a drag, I really had to push myself to carry on. At 9.5km, I saw a girl on the stretcher, with an oxygen mask to her face. I was like, oh no... And the last 500m was my worse... It was such a difficult task for me. Hahaha. And when I crossed over the finishing line, suddenly, a sense of satisfaction just came all over me. I did it. I actually DID IT!! The greatest satisfaction was because I managed to keep to my timing, in fact better. I could have walked the remaining 5km or 3km, and finish the race in the stipulated time, which was 2 hours, but I didn't. Am proud of myself. :P

Jason, being the good husband he is, woke up at 6.30am to go with me. As I had no friends to go with, he accompanied me. Thanks darling! He waited for me at the finishing line, but, I couldn't see him as there were too many people there. And guess what? He couldn't see me either, so he didn't capture me crossing the line! Was a bit disappointed because I saw he took pic of the winner of the race, a Kenyan lady, and a few other people crossing the line but not ME :( Also, because he didn't expect me to finish the race in about 1 hr's time. Hahaha. But it's ok. Hehehe.

L-R,T-B: warming up; after race, eating banana; it's hot!; cervical cancer awareness

L-R: what i wore; medal (front); medal (back)

My left leg ached. But I still had the strength to go round walking at Raffles plaza. First, so hungry, we went to the nearby Starbucks for breakfast. Then we went round looking for a Samsonite luggage bag, for our friend to get it for us. (Cabin crew gets a certain discount). Then Jason wanted to get a pair of running shoes (to start running? ")), so we went to Adidas. Since it was the last day for me to get 20% on shoes & clothes, we went. Later, to found out, the discount is only for women's shoes & clothes. So Jason didn't want to buy, as there will be usually a special clearance sale every now and then. But I bought a pair of a good running shoes. Usual price was $129, after %, it was $97. It falls under the ClimaCool category. The free shirt they gave was under ClimaLite category. Hehehe. I bought the running shorts from there too just before the race. And so, I have no reason for not going for races next year. Especially Stan Chart run. :) Anyone care to join me?

It still hurts!

Yes, my feet still hurts! *sob sob*. Not sure if it's swollen, but it's a pain to climb up the stairs, and worse, to go down the stairs as all my body pressure is either on my knees or on my feet. My knee is ok now, but now, both left and right foot from ankle below hurts. The vein through my big toe to my ankle, hurts, that I can't lift up my feet properly to walk. I have to "drag" my feet. Haha.
Ah well, hopefully it gets healed by this weekend just in time for a friend's wedding. Else...

Right now, I have to elevate my feet so that the pressure is not on it...
*phew*

Two and a half days to go

...to the Great Eastern Women 10km run. Have not been regularly training as I'm just plain lazy... Hehe. Also, no one to train with me. *sob sob*. Okokok.. I know.. excuses. Thank God I didn't sign up for half marathon at Stan Chart run in Dec. Else I'll be regretting like mad.

I went to Millena Walk to get my race pack last Friday, which includes a sports bag, and addidas running "singlet", a wristband, lots of vouchers from Great Eastern, free stuffs here and there, a Cleo magazine, and so forth. Basically all these are the sponsors. Adidas is the main co-sponsor I guess. And yeah, as participants, we get a 20% discount if we get anything from Adidas, till 21st Oct 2007. Hmmm... Thought of getting a sports shorts. Hmm... have to go back there again to collect my bib and championchip today.

race pack

Anyway, since I didn't run last week (with all the birthday celebrations and over-eating), I was thinking to run at least twice, before Sunday (7.30am). Dragged my feet to the gym yesterday. Jason ran with me, but he stopped at 1.2km (he's definitely not a runner :P). I did 5.2km in 35 mins. Not sure if it's good timing, but if Jason had not stopped me, perhaps, I might be able to go on for another km. Now, I need LY to get me a knee guard. :P

I hope I can do it! Yeah.

Crazy

Yeah.. Am crazy..Just signed up for the Great Eastern Women 10K 2007 run on 21st October 2007. All this was because Liza managed to persuade me to do it. :P. This is supposed to be my warm-up for the marathon of the year, Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon Run 2007. Pretty scary. Never been in international races before. And the furthest I've been is my ex-company's Cross-country run which was only 5km. That also, had to train so hard so that I don't get cramps the next day.
Have to start training. *boo hoo*. But for the Spore Run, I will take some time to think over about it. It's 21km (half-marathon) , about 5 laps around Bedok Reservoir.

What do I think I can gain from this?
1) Personal satisfaction
2) Can lose weight
3) Hopefully a well-toned figure. :P
4) Healthy and fit
5) Can't lose to KennySia :P
