Sunnydale Christmas Lunch 2007

Continuation from My 2007 Christmas...

25th December 2007

Upon reaching Shirley's house, there were a few others who were already there. I wasn't really in the mood for anything actually because I felt bad not seeing my family off to the bus station. But it can't be helped. They made rather a last minute decision to come down, and by then, I was appointed to co-organize the lunch with the host, Shirley.

Basically, I didn't do anything for the lunch. She did most of the planning for the food and for the games. I mainly, just executed what was planned, being the game-master. Hehehe. Yeah, I guess most of you will ask me why I'm like that. I guess, because I have been planning lots of things before, and being a very detailed person (some of you call me a 'perfectionist') that's what I am, I guess I had to learn some stuffs in life. I wanted to really relax and enjoy planning and not make it a burden for myself. And sometimes, Jason tells me that I just w o r r y too much. Sigh. I had to come to terms with myself that plans DO go wrong, that plans DO get ruined at times, that plans are just plans, ultimately, I have to learn to be f l e x i b l e. 'nuff said.

I had a little bit of the food.. Don't get me wrong. The food was great! Shirley and her sis really prepared a wonderful spread, and yes, for the first time in my life, I get to eat roasted turkey! Yummy. It was great. I guessed the food did lift my spirits up a little bit. More people came in and then I was ready to began with the games. Not everyone was gamed for it at first, but thank God for the sporting ones.

Games we played:

1. Divided them into groups, leaders, and they were to discuss about a short presentation to portray Christmas and the theme of the group. (Joy, Love, Peace, Faith). It was great. In the 15 minutes I gave them to prepare, they came out with creative presentations.

LOVE

FAITH

PEACE

JOY

2. The Quest game. It was lent to us by Jaena (cell leader) where you just pick a card from the deck and read out the question and answer it. We played one round, and ended it with lots of laughs before it. Hehehe.

3. Guy - Girl dress up. Yeah, they were supposed to dress up the guy in their group as a girl, with whatever they have brought with them. And it was totally hilarious. I must say I must give a thumbs up for Len! He can really qualify to be a model as he did the catwalk with great moves. Needless to say, their group won the game.

4. Candy-cane best dressed. Everyone was supposed to come dressed in red/white/purple/green/orange/yellow. Whichever color that is not supposed to be on you will be deducted 2 points. I think one group managed to get points not deducted. :)

5. Bonus question - What does the candy-cane signifies? Answer here. Almost all got the answer correctly. And yeah, because of that, I awarded each and everyone of them a peppermint flavoured candy-cane. :)

The overall winner for the games was the LOVE group. Woopie!!

We had another round of Quest, before singing some carols. By this time, some of them have left and we continued singing. It was a great time of fellowship. Not to mention, Jason, Len, Liza, SW and I went to ECP for a time of cycling. Fun! Tiring though. Surprisingly, we actually sweat!! Had dinner in the Hongkong Rest., and headed home after that.

That was my Christmas.... :) How was yours? I hope it was great!
