Roller-blading
Small talk: I didn't go for the jobsdb career expo because it was said to be lousy. Few companies participated. Jason went on the first day, and found nothing much. So, for those who intend to go for the KL one, be warned! Applying online is much more effective :P
Thank God for the great weather we had on Sunday morning, that 8 of us could have a great time... exercising. Muahaha...
We made plans the night before to go to ECP (East Coast Park) to blade. Roller-blading history for me: I used to blade with my ex-schoolmates back in Form 1 (Sec 1) at the basketball court at my housing estate. I can't recall the number of falls on my bum I had when I first started learning how to blade, that I vowed to make a special "guard" for the bump. Cushion, I guess.
So, there we were, 8 of us at the park. Jason, me, J, F, K, CW, CL, PX, the Sunnydale-rs, Mimosa Walk-ers, Light Dot-ians. All of us went blading initially except for Jason, J, PX (recovering from a bad fall while blading a few weeks ago.:P).
We rented our blades at the shop, and after wearing them on, fear came over me. Not sure why, but because maybe of the experiences of falling and spraining my ankles gave me that fear. Hahaha. Anyway, I was helped by the guy at the shop down the little cement slab. Have no idea how to brake. So I nicely slided down all the way till a bicycle "stopped" me. Embarrassing. The guy gave me a puzzled look. So, initially, I had to get used to the blades, and also the speed of it.
I was quite ok initially (without any falls). And after almost reaching the end, we U-turned, and that's when I started falling. I guess, I was rather tired already. And in total, I fell 3 times on my left side and now my shoulders are aching. Half-way through, I gave up. I switched place with PX. Hehehe. I cycled instead. Well, having survived blading for an hour is a big breakthrough for me. :). Jason too, switched from cycling to blading with K. He too, fell, right on his butt. (it is quite dangerous as it can affect your spine bone).
All in all, we had a great time together and it was a good sweat-out. I didn't know blading can make you sweat as much as jogging. Jason suggested I should get one lousy pair and start practicing at the ground floor of the HDB, blading from one pillar to another, like what PX did when she was learning this too. Most importantly, I must learn how to brake. Hahaha. Oh well, maybe I would, maybe I will just stick to cycling. :)
Blading, anyone? *wink*
