In a Dilemma

Yeah.. about cameras..eRic! gave me a scenario if I were in a pretty dress, perhaps for a wedding dinner or something.. will I carry a DSLR around? Hehehe... And if he were in my shoes, working in Spore, he'll get both, a compact camera and a DLSR...

I'm torn. Part of what he said is true... In fact, all parts he said is true. Sigh...If it's a compact, I'll grab a Nikon P5000 anytime. It's about $500 here. About 1/3 of the D80.

Perhaps I should get a compact, play around with it, and then slowly get a DLSR... Hehehe...

More decisions... *double sigh*

>_< *headache*

5 kay-pohs:

  1. Yeah it would be abit 'clumsy' to be lugging the big chunk of that DSLR around when you're all dressed up for an event. And you normally carry your camera to events right?

I'm using a Sony Cybershot T20 (baby pink color, hehe) and it takes nice pictures if you know how to play around with the settings. Most of the pictures on my blog are taken with the camera and I used a lower pixel setting (cuz don't want the files to be too big to attach on the web), so imagine if you fully utilize the settings?

Plus the price is much much cheaper also. When I bought it, they have a promotion where I can buy the leather carrying case (matching pink also) for only RM99, normal price is RM300+ I think. It looks really good and the small size makes it easy to carry, I usually stuff it in my clutch. Or when I'm in casual mode, I just sling it on my wrist like a wristlet. Very convenient.
Dunno if my opinion helps. Haha

  2. muahahahahahahaha.... more options! more decisions! i'm sooo happy i have a part to play in it!! >;P

  3. woohoo! 1st time commenting on your blog. *hope your not too surprise that I follow your blog :P*

I am a proud owner of a Nikon D70 (glad you found your way to D80 and the other Nikons, Nikon Rulez!). Anyway, I feel you should see why you wanna buy a camera, if you're buying it to cam-whore (no offence :P) then buy a compact lor cuz like eRic say you won't be going around a wedding in a dress carrying a DSLR.

But if you're buying a camera to take awesome pictures, you don't really have the need to carry it all the way to weddings unless you are the official photographer (then you won't be wearing a dress). I usually prefer not bringing my DSLR to weddings unless called upon by the bride and groom. If you really wanna bring ask your 'lou kong' to carry for you lor. Besides there are not many weddings anyway.

But basically, any camera will serve you will cuz you don't need a DSLR to learn framing & composition (heck, a handphone cam can do that too). But a DSLR gives you the power to shoot artsy-model sharp-background all blur-shots, motion freeze, long exposure and many more.

Bottom-line is Ask yourself why you wanna buy a camera then buy. Don't be confined by your budget.

Any question do chat with me through ym :) nicky_wcx

  4. i SO know what eRic is talking about regarding the dresses-and-dSLRs-dont-go-together bit. that's why i'm saving for a compact. heh. all the best in your hunt. i won't give much opinions, it'll add to the confusion. :D

p.s. hope you had a great weekend home. ;)

  5. KweeSiang: THanks girl for ur advise. I actually, have sort of made up my mind over the weekend to get a compact. And yeah, I know the cybershot looks pretty slim and cool, but I wouls still prefer a Nikon. :P Like how I still prefer a Honda to a Toyota.

Nicky!!!! Yups, u told me that u're following my blog, and thanks for your opinions...D80 was recommended by my wedding photographer, Andy Lim...hmm.. but I'm pretty much set on Nikon P5k. :) It is an in btwn of a normal compact and a DLSR. And yes, at my age, we have lots of weddings to go too! In october alone, we have 3 invitations, which are all falling on the same day.

eRic!: yayayaya.... happy la now.. u've got the attention u wanted. Hehehe. Wait for me ya. Don buy w/o waiting for me.

Auds: Hey, ahahaha.. yeah, actually it did make sense when he told me abt it. But the Nikon u're aiming for is pretty cool too. like the slim-look.. like the cybershots I've seen...but it's a Nikon. Weekend was great.. will blog abt it another time.. too tired.. and pics are back home in Melaka. Hahaha..
