Mooncakes Galore
Yes, 'tis the season of the mooncakes. After much persuasion with Jason, finally I managed to get these mooncakes from Raffles Hotel. A little pricey though, at $45 for 8 miserable ones. But, it's worth it. :) The hotel has been famous for its champagne and cognac mooncakes. It's amazing what kind of mooncakes they have here. Generally, just to name a few besides the ordinary baked mooncakes with egg yolk and lotus seeds, they (hotels in general) have champagne (+ white choco, lotus seed), cognac (+ dark bitter choco), Bailey's mooncake (nice, but it's a bit too strong), lychee, durian, cempedak (jackfruit - new one), and so on. All these usually comes with snowskin. (smooth texture, like snow frost). I bought the champagne one from Raffles Hotel. I don't think I have spent this much on mooncakes before in my entire life (RM103.50), especially if I'm back home. And besides, I don't think we can get this kind of mooncakes back home as it will be considered as non-halal. Hehe.. Next year, I will get the cognac ones. Hopefully the price doesn't increase....
